Favourite Day

Sunday's are my favourite day of the week and today has been pure bliss.

After cocktails with friends last night (I was driving so it was mocktails all the way for me), I climbed into bed a little after midnight so excited to sleep I couldn't actually get to sleep for ages.. The most bizarre feeling ever! Eventually my brain switched off from over thinking and I was snoring away, I had forgotten how lovely it was to not have an alarm and I could wake up whenever I wanted. Naturally my body clock woke up at 8, but I snoozed until 10 and eventually climbed out of bed feeling as fresh as a daisy.

Ripped cropped jeans from Zara sale.
Fluffly jumper of greatness from Topshop.
And loads of rings and my chunky silver Guess watch.

This morning I was in no rush to do anything strenuous, I have a cold brewing and feel extremely sorry for myself, so I sat on the sofa and watched a couple of episodes of Gossip Girl. However, by lunchtime I had a lease of life and next thing I know I was in my gym attire driving to the Gym for an intense 1 hour work out? It all happened so quickly, I don't even really remember the moment I mentally agreed this was a good idea?! However, now back and severely aching, I do feel extremely good and proud of myself! I feel like I could conquer the world, especially considering I no longer have caterpillars on my face and I now have nice eye brows (thanks girls), I obviously won't, it's a Sunday and nearly bedtime.

I just made dinner for everyone too. A really nice dinner. I feel like Beyonce today.

I made the BBC good food, Summer-in-winter chicken and it was so nice. It is the easiest dinner to make and only has an average of 262 calories per serving.

All you need is 1tbsp of olive oil, chicken breasts, cherry tomatoes, red pesto (3 tbsp), creme fraiche (3 tbsp) and fresh basil if you have it and a large wok!! You simply heat the oil in the pan, add chicken and fry until cooked through, season all over with a little salt and pepper, halve the tomatoes and throw them in the pan until they soften, reduce heat and then stir in 3 tbsp of pesto and creme fraiche until it makes a sauce and then scatter the basil leaves. You can serve with rice and salad or mash and broccoli (obviously I had rice and salad because I have a real issue with mash and hate it).

Have a good week.

An Oversized Shirt and Messy Bun

It always gets to the end of the week and piecing together an outfit and ridiculous o'clock in the morning becomes virtually an impossible task. I woke up Friday morning and my eyes were burning I was so tired, I couldn't stops sneezing and coughing and after looking at the temperature and seeing it was -6, I wanted nothing more than to slide back into my delightful marshmallow bed and go back to sleep. Of course I didn't... I forced myself to get up, get into the shower and get ready for work. When it came to outfit picking, I wasn't in the right frame of mine for experimenting and all I wanted to do was eat my porridge that had been bleeping in the microwave for the past 2 minutes - it was ready, I just wasn't.

My faithful cream over size shirt from Zara (or any faithful over sized shirt for that matter) always saves the day, I paired the shirt with my tight black trousers rolled at the bottom and my River Island classic chelsea boots (obviously I unrolled the bottom of my trousers for my walk to the station otherwise I think my ankles would have got frost bite).

When doing my make up I always shove my hair in a messy bun to get it out of my face and on Friday I decided I couldn't be bothered to attempt to tame my locks, so I left my hair and just added a few kirby grips in to keep it in place. Hairspray works wonders if you use it right.. I use it technically the wrong way, but it works well for me.  As opposed to spraying my hair once it is in place, I always tip my head upside and spray just before I tie it up, this way it reduces the chance of the slicked back sticky look, but still holds the hair in place. I patted in a little bit of dry shampoo on my roots to avoid my hair looking greasy when tied up (it was clean I just haven't had my colours done in a while!) and then ran for my train.. Literally!

To say Friday was busy was an understatement and by the end of the day my hair was still in a messy bun, but the dark circles under my eyes had grown dramatically. I walked in the door after work and slumped on the sofa and didn't move until it was time for bed.

Trainers

I have turnt into someone I never thought I would.. Little dramatic, but it is true. I used to judge people that wore trainers with an everyday outfit, or even to worse to work. I used to constantly say "Trainers are for the gym why are these people wearing them as shoes, this isn't ok". Don't get me wrong I have always loved trainers and had nice trainers, but trainers to me were purely for exercise  purposes and were not to be paired with jeans and a leather jacket!

I have changed and I think I am ok with this? I recently discovered New Balance trainers (I lie, I discovered my cousins New Balance trainers) and I love them and don't particularly want to give them back to her (sorry Toni). They are not only extremely comfy, but also look relatively cool with certain out fits.. I think?

I took the plunge and rustled up an outfit, quite literally - it was 6 in the morning I could barely see I was so tired let alone think about my outfit for the day and guess what?? I wore trainers to work! The dress code at work is 'smart-casual', but people often rock up in trainers and jeans so I convinced myself I would be ok and I was and I kinda liked my new look.

I wore my smart black jean-like trousers, rolled over at the bottom of course (chilly ankles alert), with a black short sleeve blouse from h&m and a gunmetal grey statement necklace from Zara.

My Mum (bless her) did question my new outfit and asked weather I was taking my chelsea boots to work too and if I was just wearing the trainers for comfort, I don't think she is too sure of them. I'm now just trying to think of an outfit where I could wear them again next week...

What do you think??? Am I having a bit of an early-mid-life crisis or am I now considered cool?

Sunday Funday

Today I exchanged my Chelsea boots for wellies and my little leather jacket for my huge over sized coat and hit the heart of the country with family and friends for a long walk and a delicious roast dinner. I love being able to get out in the fresh air at the weekends considering I am now inhaling fumes and germs from the underground and city centre all week - we are fortunate enough that where we live we are surrounded by beautiful scenery (and lovely pubs) so after a hearty breakfast we were all on our way.

Considering the bitter chill in the air, layering up was vital. I paired my faithful black Topshop jeans with a cosy knitted jumper from h&m with my favourite faux-fur gillet over the top, all snuggled under my huge Zara coat. On my head I wore my hat with no head (it does have its uses, it keeps my ears nice and toasty) from New Look. And then on my feet... Of course... My extremely muddy trusty, black Hunter wellies.

I'm now back in my dressing gown, with a cup of tea and a face mask on waiting patiently for Call The Midwife and then I plan to fall into bed and get a good nights sleep before another busy week!

Inside Molly

Whenever I run out of ideas of what to blog about, which seems to be quite often recently, I search high and low over the internet for ideas, but sometimes the topics are sitting right in front of me, quite literally. We live in a nation of nosey people that love snooping about and learning about other peoples lives, I'm guilty of it and you would be lying if you said you weren't too.. The over the shoulder read of someones messages as they innocently type, the quick glance at someones outfit from head to toe as they are walking towards you or the basic scroll back through years worth of blog posts when you have nothing better to do and looking for inspiration. Introducing Molly (my handbag) and my possessions that are always inside her. A traditional blog post done by numerous bloggers, so I thought I would give it a go...

My faithful, beautiful Mulberry was a present for my 21st from my Mum and Dad and I am quite often found sniffing her (the real leather smell is to die for) or just gently stroking her, she comes everywhere with me and I would be lost without her. Here is what is inside my handbag;

My 2015 diary and fountain pens - I take my diary everywhere with me, I am completely obsessed with writing everything down, from appointments to when my Mum and Dad are going on holiday to simple reminders of what I have to do that week. I also am totally ridiculous when it comes to hand writing, I have a real issue with messy handwriting.. I hate it!!! My fountain pens (old school) make my writing neater so I always ensure I write in my diary with them.

Hand sanitizer - Jumping on and off tubes, touching doors that thousands of other people touch grosses me out!! My hand sanitizer comes everywhere with me and I use it frequently throughout the day. I love the smell of the passion fruit and mango one, the smell takes me right back to V festival in the Summer, after going through a whole bottle in just one weekend.

Pass holder - For Christmas my cute Mum brought me a travel card holder which has my oyster card and my work pass tucked away inside it. It's super cute and has little pictures of London all over it. The holder is so handy and saves rummaging through my bag when rushing.

My kindle - My kindle comes everywhere with me and at every opportunity I read. I wasn't a fan of the old fashioned cases when I first brought my Kindle, so I brought a Zara clutch bag which fits it in perfectly.

Faithful Zara perfume - One of the best smells, ever! I use perfume everyday like it is going out of fashion, so to save wasting my expensive perfume I invested in a few different bottles of the Zara perfumes! They smell so nice and last really well, that way I can use my special perfumes for nights out and not worry about wasting it.

4head - It's for your head.. hence the name and saves popping pills all the time. Eases the tension of a headache almost instantly and feels really nice and tingly on your head!

Molly's friend (my purse) - She is so pretty isn't she!!!!!! I was so lucky this Christmas and was kindly given my little Mulberry purse, she matches my bag perfectly and I love her!! The purse is great for carrying my money, bank cards, gift cards and customer loyalty cards. It fits everything in perfectly and is also super pretty!

'Cor Balmy' lip balm by Barry M - For emergenacies, lip emergancies of course not full scale 999 drama's. I always suffer with really dry lips and some treatment balms are dull and boring, but this Barry M balm adds colour to your lips as well as nourishing them. I was given my first 'Cor balmy' after doing some work experience at Heat magazine and since I have been obsessed and have brought loads!

My other essentials such as my hand cream, snacks (very important), water bottles, herbal tea (yes I take tea bags places) and carmex are in my draw on my desk at work. Plus my phone is usually launched into my bag too (often right at the bottom when I am trying to find it), but I used it to take my photos.

No Tequila's Tonight

Whilst most 21 year olds will be spending their Saturday nights shouting "4 tequila's please!!!!" to a barman in a crammed night club, i'm sitting at home with a cup of tea writing blog posts watching back to back episodes of Gossip Girl on Netflix and to be honest I couldn't be happier. Don't get me wrong I am guilty of going crazy to Spice Girls and S Club 7 in the Disco Room - but tonight, after my insanely busy week I couldn't feel more content, sitting at home, if I tried. Having Saturdays off of work now makes me feel like I have a super long weekend and I love it, I manage to spend time with both friends and family without rushing and fretting about weather I have time to wash my hair on Sunday evening. Plus, the longer the weekend the more time I get in my ultra soft Next dressing gown! (Thanks Santa).

Although the weeks not over, here are my top 5 highlights of the week:

1. I was asked to be a Godmother to my little man Alfie - eeeeeeeekkkkkk!!

2. I assisted a photoshoot with Harrods for their main w/w fashion story, covering Denim for the April copy. Soooo much fun!

3. I stayed up past 10, two nights in a row on 'school nights', go me.

4. I paid for my trip to Amsterdam, only 70 days to go!

That That style

I haven't blogged in a while.. Since November in fact. Over the past few weeks, I kept going to write various posts about various different things and was struck with a severe case of writers block. I felt like I was writing about irrelevant nonsense (which I probably was), that nobody would care about. Thankfully, my friend rightly persuaded me to not be so paranoid or self conscious and to just write, so that is what I am doing. I can't expect everyone to like every single blog post I upload (or any for that matter) and it would be arrogant of me to think you all would. So, excuse my reserved nature, this time I promise I am back for good (Take That style). I'm finding it hard to decide where to begin... Since last time we have had Christmas, New Year, new starts and severe obsession with Gossip Girl.

Let's take it from the top and go in chronological order.

Christmas this year consisted of food, food, games, food, more food and a few Malibu and pineapple's. It was the best! Throughout the whole christmas period I laughed until my tummy hurt and appreciated time with the people who mean the most to me. Santa brought me clothes, tons of clothes, a selfie stick and a friend (purse) for Molly..... I don't think I have mentioned Molly before, she deserves a whole blog post if I haven't, she is my mulberry bag and yes I have named her and yes I love her. My Christmas actives started with a works party to Circus in Covent Garden, to anyone that hasn't been I recommend it, it was super fun, we had lovely cocktails and food and amazing circus acts performed during dinner! It also turns into a club after which plays 80's music... What more could you ask for after a few too many glasses of bubbles? This year for our girls christmas night out we went to AirHop, which was just the most fun couple of hours ever!!!!! It's a trampoline world, I don't even think it is necessary to say anymore. The videos we took will forever entertain me. Why would anyone not want to go to a room with trampolines on all over the floor and walls? Christmas day and Boxing day always involves fun, quality family time and this year did not disappoint, we played games, ate more food, drunk more drink and just enjoyed each others company.

Boxing day with my two gorgeous cousins.
There is always a dreaded lull between Christmas and New Year, so I always try to keep busy with friends and family and day trips. This year the gap flew by and before I knew it, it was time for the countdown and the song that nobody knows but everybody loves (Auld Lang Syne - I bet the tune is in your head now isn't it). I spent my New Years eve in a pub with friends and had a lovely evening! Prior to the evening, I had a very emotional and sad day so I was happy to have a few drinks and dance......

New Year's eve smiles.

New Years eve day - The time finally came where I had to say goodbye to my job at the salon and move on and focus on my career in the fashion journalism industry. I get a lump in my throat thinking about it now, as mentioned before I worked at the salon for 6 and a bit years and made best friends out of work colleagues and am devastated to not be part of the dream team anymore!! However, I was offered an incredible opportunity to intern for 3 months back at Harrods Magazine (SCREAM), which I simply could not turn down! My official title is a "Tempory junior fashion assistant" and so far I am loving every single minute of it, including, dare I say it, the commute where I get to have a little 30 minute snooze on the over ground and then read my Kindle on the underground! I am in a very good place at the moment and am finally appreciating my weekends!

October edition of Harrods Magazine.

One last thing for tonight, I need to discuss/ write about Gossip Girl.

This blog post would be incomplete if I didn't mention it just a little bit. I have netflix (I am so behind times I know) and have started Gossip Girl from the beginning and am literally obsessed, I watch it near enough every night before sleep and am gripped! Why can't I look like Serena, who is Gossip Girl, will Chuck Bass ever not be a sleaze, will Serna and Dan get back together? I have so many questions that need to be answered so I suppose I better go and watch an episode before bed.....

Xoxo

It feels good to be back blogging. Next time I will write about upcoming trips, the organised chaos of the fashion cupboard and maybe a little bit about Molly the mulberry.
